  1. If money isn't an issue there's always Nobu and Nobu Next Door in Tribeca.  Those are two of the best.

Masuharu Morimoto (Iron Chef) has a place on the west side on 14th that received one of NY Magazines pick awards.  Haven't been there yet but I've heard good things.

But with all the really expensive sushi I've had, I'm still partial to Yuka on 2nd Avenue between 80th and 81st where you're greeted coming in the door as if you were Norm on Cheers and you can eat sushi for 20 bucks plus tax (buckets of sake not included).  The only provision is, you have to eat everything you order...no take out, doggie bags or leftovers.

If you order a regular sushi plate, the portions are generous...more so than most Japanese restaurants I've been to.

  2. if you go to the west side on the corner of 110 and broadway there is a place called TOMO it is three doors down from the corner

  3. I used to live near Manhattan until I was 10 (I'm 14 now) and I have to say, of every sushi place in NYC try Sushi Hana. I loved that place. They are on Amsterdam Avenue

    Great food!

  4. Unfortunatly the ones I know are uptown.

Sushi of Gari, east and west sides are the best I know.   I also love Haro, and it is a chain.  Check it out, there very well might be one downttown.

Always good to check with Zagats, they have

    trusty recommendatons
