  1. ummm yeah take a look at meatloaf (how ironic - i know)...

although i am quite slim and i am a vegetarian

  2. I know at least 1 overweight vegetarian who eats a lot of pizza and pasta. but for the most part, vegetarians weigh less than meat eaters because vegetarians make a conscious decision to eat healthier by not eating meat, and therefore, will cut down eating other fatty foods.

  3. Yes, I've met vegetarians and vegans of all shapes and sizes, just as I've met meat-eaters of all shapes and sizes.

It is possible to gain weight on a veg*n diet; it isn't a weight loss regime and the same old rules about healthy eating and exercise apply.

In the course of my lifetime I've been a meat-eater a vegetarian and a vegan. At different times I've lost and gained weight on all three diets

  4. yes. many eat nothing but junk

  5. Yes, I know many fat vegetarians. But I do  not know anybody fat with raw food lifestyle.

Cooked food is tastier than raw food because of the added salt and spices etc. So it is easier to overeat because your tongue wants that food even though the stomach is full.

With raw food, people can eat only till they feel full.

Vegetarian or non vegetarians, people become fat because of overeating, too much fat consumption including sweets, no exercise, eating wrong kinds of food such as junk food.

  6. Raw food - don't know any.

I have known and know people that are overweight that are vegetarian/vegans - one person that is attempting to get over anorexia (trying to get her to focus on the needs found within the food for her body vs. just the food - and it is actually working, she is holding her weight at least).

Too many look at a particular way of eating as the way to lose weight - when actually one should make an intelligent choice based upon their own choices and belief - THEN go from there to address weight issues.

Too many also forget about that little thing called 'exercise' as well.

  7. Yes i do know a fat vegetarian, but just becuase ur a vegetarian doesnt mean you cant eat greasy food. Meat only accounts for a fraction of food high in fat.

  8. I'm surprised by the other answers because I have never, in my ENTIRE life, met a vegetarian who was even slightly overweight. I knew one man who ate meat and was very fat then converted to vegetarianism to lose weight. He became a very healthy weight in only 2 months of being a vegetarian! He returned to meat eating as soon as he'd lost the weight, though, and of course gained it back in doing so.

  9. I know a fat ovo-lacto vegetarian.  I've never met a fat vegan.

  10. No I don't. People always ask me how I stay so slim, I tell them I'm vegetarian and they say 'aaaah,' knowingly.

  11. Yes i know of three people who were oveweight and went vegetarian. Three years later, they are still overweight (2 actually gained more weight). My great aunt was another overweight vegetarian who incidentally died of cancer. Some overweight clients in our restaurant order vegetarian main courses though I can't tell if they are just omnis trying to lose weight, new vegetarians or "old timer" vegetarians. I'd like to think its becasue our veggies dishes are that good.

  12. I don't know any raw foodists personally, but I know vegetarians and vegans of all shapes and sizes.
