I have read both of the answers or statements concerning the Open Bar Card. It is a card that can be purchased just like the coke card. I have one in my hand that a friend of mine bought on a cruise that he took in December of 2007.

I am just trying to find out if anyone knows about this card and where did they purchase it.

My friend said it was in his package along with his room number and dining time. He did pay $200 for the card before he ever got his room number but he does not know what made him be qualified for the card.

Anyone else have any information about this Open Bar Card from Carnival.

  1. The only drinks card that you can purchase is the soda fountain card that you can use at any bar on the ship.

  2. Yes, you can find out more about it on their website.

  3. Yes, there is a little-known "open bar and wine" program at Carnival.

It requires advance booking and I think a group of at least 30 people. Price depends on the length of the trip.

  4. Hmm.  Sounds like a myth to me.

I seriously doubt Carnival would foster an "open bar" atmosphere of heavy drinking.  I can just imagine belligerant drunks shouting "you can't throw me out - I paid my $200!"

Plus for all the trouble they have with people "sharing" soda cards, it would be 10x worse with alcohol.

EDIT: Thanks for the additional information.  This is really interesting!

I'll make some inquiries, if you can tell me:

    - What ship? How long was the cruise?

    - Was he traveling as part of a group or convention?

    - Did the card come from Carnival or his travel agent / group?

Also if there's any way you could post a picture of the card, that would help.
