I continued to be amazed  at the large number of contributors on YA who find it necessary to be disparaging of any of the drivers in any of the NASCAR series. Each driver has his own personality, his own talent, his own experiences thus making each an individual unto himself. It is completely unnecessary to try to be "cute" and derogatory and far more a blessing to be thoughtful and positive when writing about these fine individuals who give each of us such great entertainment on the weekends. But to even suggest that Kyle Petty's value to NASCAR is simply in his wins on the track is to completely miss what his life's value truly is. Others above have very aptly listed his many accomplishments. Perhaps it might be time for the good old truth many mothers of my generation at least taught their children: if you can't say something nice about someone, then don't say anything at all.

he has 823 starts, 8 wins, 52 top-5s, 173 top-10s, and 8 poles. he also finished in the top 10 in points four times and has won over $31 million dollars. i don't see how that's anything to "LOL" about - his legacy will live on long past yours no doubt. he has been "one of racing's good guys." he is intelligent, articulate, and a good spokesman for and commentator on the sport. more importantly, he has carried on an incredible legacy in adam's name - large scale philanthropy from the stars of nascar and beyond. his victory junction gang camps and other efforts are his contributions to society, which in anybody's book beats the h**l out of those from someone whose greatest contribution to date is to make fun of someone like him on YA.

he may have won only a few races, but he's won and raised tens of millions of dollars. more importantly he has won the hearts of thousands (maybe tens of thousands) of children and the respect of nearly everyone who has ever worked with him on the track, in the garage, on the air, or in conjunction with his charitable work. as his wife has said, "my husband's not one of the greats, but he's one of the great individuals."

believe  it or not kyle petty accually did pretty good when he drove the mello yellow car  dont no what happend to him now but he does do alot for kids so he cant be to bad of a guy i guess when you run your racing business you can take all them losses just like a business and have a good tax write off thats the only way i can see petty enterprises being able to keep racing thank god richard took on another owner hope to see them in winners circle soon

Ok so he's not like his dad with the most wins in Sprint Cup history (only 8) or Championships (none) but he has shown his prowess in other fields, most noticeably in the field of charity.
