Does any one know how to copy recorded tv or movies to a laptop.?

i have an explorer 8300 hd dvr ([e-mail]) do you need a special cable or can i use a usb cable to connect it to my computer?

You need a TV tuner. There are a lot of brands and kinds.

Check the DVR to see what kind of cable it takes.  It will most likely usee USB.  You should be able to transfer recorded programs onto an external hard drive or your computer.  Note that you may have to pay a small fee to activate the USB port on your DVR.  Alternatively, you could buy a TV tuner card which would let you record the programs onto your computer.  The disadvantage to this is that you would have to hook the DVR up to your computer as you would to a TV and watch/record the program in real time.  You may also lose the high definition quality.
