  1. 5-x=6x+12........add opposites to get all x's on one side and all the numbers on the other

    Add x to both sides

    5 = 7x + 12

    Subtract 12 from both sides

    -7 = 7x

    Divide both sides by 7 because it's in front of x

    -1 = x

    Good luck to you !

  2. 5-x=6x+12

    you want the x on one side and the numbers on the other

    first subtract 12 from each side

    -7 ( because 5-12)  - x = 6x

    add 1x to each side

    -7=7x

    Divide both sides by 7

    -7/7=x

    x = -1

    Check

    5-(-1)=(6*-1) + 12

    two negatives makes a plus

    6 = -6+12

  3. 5-x = 6x +12

    5-12 = 6x +x

    -7 = 7x

    x = -1

  4. 1st you want to get all your Xs on one side and all your constants on the other

    so you add the -x to the other side, and subtract the 12 from the five. you should have

    -7 = 7x

    then you divide each side by seven

    the you have

    x = -7
