We have had a water system in our house and it has done nothing but make the sulfur smell worse. We had them remove it, but we still have the smell. I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions on what we should do?

Thank you for your response.

  1. When I was a teenager, we lived on a houseboat. The marina we lived in only had sulfur water. for the shower water, we bought a shower head that aerated the shower water, that helped a lot. For cooking and drinking, we filled a few gallon jugs with it, set it out without a lid overnight and the sulfur smell evaporated. Also, for cooking, when you bring the sulfur water to a boil, the sulfur evaporates. Chlorine helps but it makes it taste nastier than the sulfur!

  2. greetings earthling.  This is Prog from the planet Ypton.  I have encountered the phenomenon of which you speak before.  To resolve it you will need 24fl.oz. of 100% alcohol, combined with 48oz. of a substance I have found called Miracle Whip salad dressing.  The third and final ingredient comes only from planet, therefore I will have to beam it to your location.  Mix these three together and pour into the well and in approximately 25 of your earth minutes the odor will be gone.  Speak to no one that you were contacted by me, this is imperative or you shall be eliminated.  Good luck.

  3. Your problem is more than likely a chemical reaction between your water and the "standard" magnesium anode rod in your water heater.  You can get an aluminum anode rod at the plumbing supply or hardware store.

Your hot water should be "Stinky" and not your cold.  If your cold is stinky, you may have to have your well re-chlorinated.

    Best of Luck!

  4. its going to take a charcoal filter system-if its that bad might have to go with a outside full filter system 3 or 4 stage

  5. I sympathize with you. It smells to high heaven. We also had sulfer water. If you let it sit overnight it will not smell, but as for using it in laundry and bathing, I have no idea. There must be some new products on the market by now. Good luck./

  6. Hi there ,

    I had the same problem.

Somebody told me to change the anode in my water heater they make a special anode for well water I think it is zink ion or thomething like that.I changed it myself was realy easy.get istructions though.

in conjunktion with that they had me up the water temp in my water heater and both of that helped me a lot.

    try it out.

The anode was orderd on line.

    good luck
