  1. If the color is specifically reserved for emergency vehicles, it cannot be used on any non-emergency vehicles.

The only exception is red, but it can only be installed on tail/brake lights, never on any light that projects forward of the vehicle.

  2. Any blue light are illegal in all states.

  3. different states have different rules

    check your local listings

  4. If your lights are predominantly red it with a bit of blue, it shouldn't be a problem. When in doubt call the DMV!

  5. If and when a Police officer pulls you over, you will find out that they are illegal.

Amber and white lights are allowed on the front of a vehicle.

Blue lights might be allowed for "decorative" purposes, but may not become a distraction to other drivers. Your Motor Vehicles Act will point out what lights may be used on the front of your vehicle.

Also as an added note, red lights may  be placed ONLY on the rear of your vehicle.

There are such rules regarding the use of certain colored lights, in boating, and on aircraft as well. They are designed to keep everyone safe on the road, in the water and in the air.
