  1. Well, hi=D i think if you want to buy skates and in some months change it Go for it!=D but you have to know that, but i will start with rental skates and then change to a good pair of skates.. well, at the end is your decision... better to ask your coach or ask in a pro-shop what they recommend Good luck!=D

  2. Generally Jackson skates are good for beginners!

I really do not think Riedells are good, especiallyif you have a larger budgit like you do. They are cheaply made and mass produced, plus the ankle support is really bad and breaks

BUT, these jacksons are just for recreational use. If your a beginner they MIGHT be ok, but really the people who buy these are either, a. Coaches who dont want their feet to hurt while coaching, or b. People who just skate in circles once a week.

You have it right, looking for Jacksons, but it really depends how far you wanna get in skating. If you wanna get past basic stroking, maybe some very basic spins/ or some basic jumps, then these are not for you. As for hating the look of skates, when you get better you will HAVE to get skates that look normal. So i would get used to it. You may think they are "girly" but every guy has to wear them, too.

My personal recommendation: Jackson Marquis Mens

OR (maybe when you get to about FS1) Jackson Freestyle Mens. So i would start with the Marquis then go to Freestyles later.

Just go to a skate shop! You really should either way. You HAVE to try them on, often they fit in very unexpected ways and you might need the leather punched in places. And they can help you find what you need.

  3. I started learning to skate 3 months ago in hockey skates. my instructor persuaded me i'd fall over less if i had a figure skate.

like you i like the hockey skate "trainer" look and didn't want a traditional figure skate that looked smarter than my best shoes, so I bought a pair of JacksonST3502.

They are extremely comfortable and easier to learn in than hockey skates. They look good as well.

Although I'm taking lessons i only intend to be a recreational skater - i agree with a previous comment that ST3502 will need to upgraded to proper figure skates if you intend to get competitive.

    I recommend Jackson ST3502 for a beginner
