I was on the phone with my BF while at work and mentioned that I envied him because he got his masters and i was planning to get mine. I noticed that people around me had heard what I said and was somewhat "something" i'm not sure if i can explain it. A little resentful, or a little more talkative with me. You see, in my office it's a mind your business kind of click, so i felt wierd. I don't want to get fired or something. so I was wondering anyone knew if there is a device out there that helps block my chatter from others in the office. (i have a cubicle style office but word travels far, whew!!) Thanks.

  4. i would just txt msg him on the phone. e-mail is another way but as far as getting rid of eavesdroppers your limited by the distance between you and the person next to you...

but it might help to keep a radio at you desk and keep the volume up just enough  so as to muffle your private chatting. good luck....

  5. txting or the bathromm

  6. didn't you say that people "heard" you .. then i guess you wanna lower your voice when talking on the phone so that no one can hear you ! there is no such a device in the world that would let you talk on phone loudly and not let others hear your voice while talking ... Science does not agree with you here !

  7. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do.  Do you have enclaves (small rooms with closed doors) that you could make the call from?

Personal conversation at your desk - isn't.  A sad truth of the office environment (I work in one too).

  8. There is no device to prevent your voice from carrying as such.  If allowed, a radio will help mask what you're saying so other people can't understand it from a distance.  Not to be insulting, but make sure you're not talking too loudly when on the phone.  I'm sure you've heard other people on cell phones talking loudly enough so everybody in the restaurant, office, airport, etc, can hear them.  Sometimes a person just doesn't realize how loudly they're talking.  The best way is to cup your hand around the phone mouthpiece to direct your voice into the mic and talk into it quietly.
