  1. Merrygold spray! try it. it smells great and works! I cant find what the brand is called but it is in a black bottle with merrygolds on it. im sure you can request it at any local tack store!

  2. Pyrethrins are natural sprays made from the extract from chrysanthemums.  They are the only natural spray I have yet seen that actually works.

Simple fact.  If a natural spray works, some company WILL quickly capitalize on that and begin extracting the working substance.  It really is that simple.  Companies spend hundreds of thousands and even millions in some cases researching 'natural products' that claim to work.  Those that do work are refined and mass produced.

BTW  That is Pyrethrins that are made from crysanthemums,  not permethrins or permectrins.

  3. Oil of cedar works well.  Now, one can also begin with a small amount of apple cider vinegar and work up to 1/2 C per day in the feed (which is good for a multitude of things) and it will repel flies from the inside out.  It changes the PH of the horse and flies "don't like."  For added information, Google Green insect repellents and all ingredients are shown on the label, that will give you some more ideas of what kinds of natural substances that you can use that will repel (not kill) flies.

  4. Some people say that 50% vingar & 50% water works.  Other then that the only other natural way would be to put on fly mask, blanket, etc.
