  1. XM is a marketing term used to promote the product in relation to the two most popular modulation schemes in broadcast radio today, AM (amplitude modulation) and FM (frequency modulation).  XM does not possess any technical meaning whatsoever.

  2. xtreme!

  3. Walker's right. It's actually an excellent marketing move. It's just so natural to say: "AM, FM, XM."

The implication is that this satellite thing is a natural transition and you should run out and get it.

I don't know what the dudes at Sirius were doin' that night they named it. I just hope Mel intends to call the merged property XM. It makes sense.

    -a guy named duh

  4. Xtreme

  5. X-ray Mama.
