  1. I too live in O C but most all of the beaches close before the little shore line breeders actually get to the sand. but for the sake of where to go every sandy low sloped beach gets them and they are attracted to light so call newport and balboa, san clemente, seal beach and even HB to see if they are having any speial nights where the beach will be open for the runs. If not then it might be tough getting to the sand. At Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro area they have a few runs at night that the beach is open where they teach all about it to kids there. All grunion runs occur near to and or during the full and new moons the listings of the grunion season and dates are always in the center page of the tide schedules available most any fishing, diving, turners outdoors, and some other sporting goods stores

  2. Check your tide charts and moon phase charts.

I live in Huntington Beach and there was a pretty good run a couple of weeks ago in one of my secret spots where the crowds don't know about.

  3. Go to the University California Marine Research web site. It list the day and time of each Grunion Run this year. Just remember that the time could be 1 hr. before or 2 hrs. after the time listed.

Usually, the runs are every two weeks all summer until Sept. so yes there will be some runs this month.
