Does any one know where someone my age can learn to play an instrument?

I am 19 and since i was in the 7th grade in middle schoo i have had this strong urge to learn to play an instrument but my parents would not let me and i still don't know why, but i still have that urge and im in a choir at church and have a strong passion for music. does anyone know where i could learn to play an instrument.

Depends on what instrument you want to learn. If you go to music stores majority have guitar lessons; if you go to a private studio or something there may be piano, singing, and drums.

Do a search! But figure out what instrument you want to play first. :-)

Hi Lisa....  you can learn right there in church.   Check to see what members play instruments.  Ask if they would help you with learning what ever it is they play.   It is very hard to learn to play something on your own, so if you want to succeed,  just get some assistance.     I can suggest that you call around to the local universities or colleges...  contact the music department and ask if there is a list of students who have signed up to teach.  Mostly there are always students wanting to make extra money and teach very reasonably.   You should probably decide which instrument you want to take up...   and then go out and buy it.    If you were to ask me???   I would suggest the flute.   :)  Great instrument / not too difficult to play / not heavy to carry/  easy to store / not too loud / always needed in church or at weddings.  Lots of pluses.   Hope I was able to help.  Good for you.. Most music stores give lessons, and if they don't themselves, can direct you to someone that does.  Go for it!

First, buy or rent an instrument. Then find a Private Instructor of some sort that gives Private Lessons to those you want to learn their specific instrument. Lessons usually cost from $10-$20 per lesson.
