I need help trying to figure a dental place in St. Pete, FL that takes coke can caps in exchange for money and they use the caps to make braces. My cousin told me about that idea of saving them and they collect it in st. pete but didnt know where. I need help or ideas on how I can locate the place or if anyone knows it would be helpful. Thanks.

  1. Sorry to say, this is another urban myth/legend that is not true.  You can check out a detailed article on the various "pull tab redemption" rumors at the hoax-busting web site, snopes.com.  According to the article, which you can read in full at their site, http://www.snopes.com/business/redeem/pu...

there are various variations circulating that you can collect can tops to pay for time on a dialysis machine, pay for wheel chairs, or cancer research, etc.  but there is no value to can tops outside of their minimal recycling value - it would take a million pull tabs to collect $366.11 from a recycling center.

  2. Sorry, but stories like that almost always turn out to be untrue. There's no dentist that will pay cash for bottlecaps -- and the metal from bottlecaps cannot be used to make braces. If you want to make money from saving bottlecaps, pop tops, old cans, or any other metal, you'll have to bring them to a recycling center, not a dentist.
