Does any one know whether perminanent residenceship is given for workpermit holder whos first visa as student?

  1. Yeah, it happens all the time where I live. The country where I live has a policy of migrants "working towards residence". This means that if you are admitted as a student, you have a higher possibility of being granted a work permit, if you were granted a work permit, you have a much higher possibility of being granted permanent residence. This is the policy of my governemnt as they see it as that people admitted as students or on work permits already have a connection to the country, have proven themselves to be a hard worker, already aware of the way of life and are an asset.

    It is more logical for the government to give persons who have lived, worked and payed their taxes here to be given Permanent residence than someone who has never lived here.

    You have a high possiblity of being granted permanent residence. As long as you have never been in trouble with the police and are law abiding and a good candidate, I can't see why they wouldn't grant you residence.
