The only direct public transport between London's Gatwick and Stansted airports are the National Express coaches which shuttle between the two airports. Note - there is no direct train service.

Having said that the direct coach route is no quicker overall than indirect routes between Gatwick and Stansted via Central London.

The big advantage of using the National Express coach is that you have none of the stress of making connections using the London Underground or taxi services. Scheduled journey times are around 3 hours, most services operate via Heathrow Airport.

Allow at least 5-6 hours from landing at one airport and checking in at the other airport.

Buses & Departure Points

All coaches scheduled to make the run have on board toilets.

At Stansted there is a modern dedicated coach station in front of the terminal, well signposted. There is a ticket/information office at the coach station.

At Gatwick the coach visits both terminals. The coach terminates at South Terminal. There are ticket/information offices well signposted in both terminals.

Luggage

Note that luggage capacity is two medium sized suitcases weighing no more than 20kg each and one piece of hand luggage per person. The driver has no apparatus to weigh the cases and at the end of the day its at the discretion of the driver what goes on the bus.

Bicycles are carried at the discretion of the driver, as long as the bicycle is properly packaged 'airline style' and there is sufficient capacity in the hold.
