Why do we have to brush our teeth? Is it our diet? Why do our teeth yellow or rot or get destroyed in various ways by the food that we eat? What did we do before toothpaste was invented and why was it invented in the first place?

  3. Yes, animals can develop tooth and gum problems. I think humans tend to have more problems due to our diets. We eat sugar and refined foods.

Before toothpaste was invented, people would gargle with cologne or booze or brush with abrasive powders.Hygiene was not a big thing for many people, like it is today. You did not bathe daily and you did not wash your clothes as often as we do now. So, people ,in general did not smell that good.

  4. Plaque will build up on your teeth and in turn cause cavities and bad gums. You need to brush good at least twice a day, and floss at least once a day. Use a good mouthwash like Listerine. go get your teeth cleaned and checked out. It sounds like you are afraid of the dentist. And, dogs can have rotten teeth.
