Does any other city in the world (other than Sydney Australia) have double decker suburban trains?

  1. Chicago, IL, USA does.  They call it the Metra.

    You can see the two sets of windows on their website.

I've travelled on the Paris double decker.  But not many people know about the British built double decker that ran on the London - Kent suburban lines.  Only two trains of four coaches each were built and introduced in the 1950s.  They weren't very successful but did stay in service until 1971.

  3. GO Transit, serving the greater Toronto area, uses 'bilevel' rolling stock manufactured in Thunder Bay by Bombardier, Canada.

    The company, Bombardier, started as 'L'Auto-Neige Bombardier Limitée' in 1942 in Quebec, Canada and developed the first 'Ski-doo'.
