  1. Not me

  2. i am Irish and live here now. It used to be a nice place to live. It is now very expensive. Good nightlife in Dublin where I live. Lots of foreigners living everywhere but that isn't a problem for most people. some racism however. Dublin is high in crime like most big cities. It is very wet and windy in winter but not too cold except for February. Plenty to do. Broadband access is c**p outside of Dublin and even in some areas of Dublin. Good education system. Good restaurants, cafes and pubs. Transport system and traffic is diabolical. Roadworks everywhere. Good luck.

  3. Yes, I live in the South West, near the city of Limerick.

It's hard to tell anyone what it's like because I don't know where you are from, and I would need to know this because then I can compare ... are you American?

It's a different pace of life, and attitude. To give an example, it so happens that on the road I live, there are no house numbers because it's a very rural area, and in the Republic outside of Dublin we don't have postal codes either. When we moved into this house, the fact that I had the same last name as two other families on the road caused a lot of confusion, and as my husband is Dutch, there was even more confusion (we each use our own name) and we weren't getting all our post. To sort it out I went into the post office in the village and introduced myself, told them whose house we'd bought and were moving into, and wrote down my husband's name and said 'he lives there too'. I didn't have any problems after that.

Plus the people like to be able to 'place' you, in rural areas anyway. They like to know about your family background, that kind of thing.

When you're out walking (and despite the unpredictable weather, people like walking here) or working in your garden, people passing by, usually neighbours, will say a few words in greeting and possibly stop and chat for a few minutes.
