  1. Vista has two kinds of search engines.  The first one looks though ALL files and folders on your computer. You access this search engine from the Start Menu.  When you click Start and the start menu appears, look at the lower left corner for the box that says "Start Search". You then enter the word or phrase you want to search for and Vista will display all possibilities directly above the Start Search box.

But you might need to do a more targeted search.  Some people might have thousands of music files, digital images, etc saved on their machine.  So you want to target your search through those files and folders only. And that's where the second search engine comes in handy. It's called the Instant Search box.  It appears in the upper right corner of every Windows Explorer screen (just below the minimize, maximize and close buttons... the symbols _ □ x ).

So from your Start Menu, open up your Music folder and you should see the Windows Explorer screen. Type in the name of the song you're looking for and Instant Search will look though every Music folder. These Microsoft tutorials give more information and screen shots of what you should see, including more advanced search techniques if you don;t know the name of the song you're looking for.
