  1. The W model is higher in spec than the V series.

The W will have better inbuilt processing features, better contrast ratios, more HDMI's and other inputs / outputs etc....

Just like a car, one with 2ltr engine and one with 3ltr engine, both look the same but are different inside.

  2. The  biggest difference between the W & the V series is that the W has a 120 Hz refresh rate and the V only has a 60 Hz refresh rate. All LCD TVs blur and jitter fast moving objects. With a 120 Hz refresh rate, the W does a pretty effective job of reducing jitter. The V has nothing to remove these artifacts and is a pain to watch with sports or action movies.

The W also has a slightly better Contrast Ration (DCR = 30,000:1 versus 25,000:1; Viewing Contrast Ration = 3,000:1 versus 2,500:1). This does result in a slightly better black level and a slightly brighter image on the W series.

HDMI ports are the same for both the W & V series at 4 a piece.

Other than these major differences, the internals of these two TVs are going to be the same (i.e. they both use the same Bravia 2 video engine, they both use a 8 bit screen, etc.)
