Does anybody ACTUALLY know if the sequel to The Golden Compass is ever going to get made?

or is the information simply not available? Yes I know what Imdb says but that seems like it's just a logical guess.

Nope, it's not getting made. "The Golden Compass" lost so much money that its studio - New Line - essentially went out of business. (Their remaining films were acquired by Warner Bros.)

If they do, I hope it is better than the 1st. I LOVE the books, but they butchered the movie!

they said it depends on the success of the first movie...so up to now I also don't know if they'll going to make part two.
