Does anybody believe this? I mean I do, because every average person doesn't use their entire brain.

  1. yes some people do- I am not one of them

  2. First, concerning the "we don't use our entire brain" myth, we actually use 100% of our brain. Not every part of the brain is active all the time, but every part of the brain is dedicated for  for a specific function. See the first link.

Regarding belief in telekinesis, yes many people do believe this is possible. According to a recent Gallup poll on paranormal belief (see 2nd link), about 30% people polled agreed with the statement that it is possible to influence the world through the mind alone. This would seem to include telekinesis, or psychokinesis.

Despite the widespread belief, there has yet been no demonstration of psychokinesis that has succeeded in rising above debate and controversy. To date, the best claims for PK concern "micro PK" where test subjects tried to influence the behavior of random number generators using their mind powers. Only exceedingly tiny statistical anomalies were observed which were by default attributed to psychic powers in the study. However, the validity of the statistical analyses used in these studies is debatable and these studies have failed to convince the rest of the scientific community (see 3rd link).

  3. not me.

  4. No I do not believe in telekinesis

*blows up the door with his mind*

    *whistles and walks away*

  5. Most of my beliefs are evidence based.  Since I have seen no evidence demonstrating PK to be a legitimate phenomenon I do not believe it is a legitimate phenomenon.  Because my beliefs are based on evidence, I will alter my belief with the emergence of any evidence.  But I'm not holding my breath.

Contrary to the myth, everyone uses his whole brain.  Even if he didn't it wouldn't automatically follow that PK is real.

  6. no

  7. Yes, I do.  My god mother is a psychic.  She's helped the police in finding missing people.  She has come up with things about me.  She says she visits me in my dreams every night, one night when I was younger she called my mom up in the middle of the night asking if I was okay because when she was visiting me I was coughing a lot (I had bronchitis)...we hadn't seen or spoke to her for months.  More recently in October of 2007 she was doing a reading for my mom and was going through and saying something about each of her 4 children.  When she got to me she said "Katie feels like she has just lost her best friend and she is going through a big change in her life right now."  My boyfriend had just broken up with me and move to Florida 3 days earlier.  We had been dating and living together for 2 1/2 years.  We hadn't seen or spoke to her since August and then everything was fine, the idea of him moving to Florida hadn't even come up yet.  You all don't have to believe me, see for yourselves.

  8. The average person uses their entire brain.  The 'you only use 10% of your brain' thing is an urban legend.  You use all of your brain, just not all the time.

And there's no part of your brain that would allow you to break the laws of physics.

  9. Sure there are plenty of them.I don't know why since it's never been done.Lots of boasting and bloviating,no doing though.

  10. We do use our entire brain. All 100%. That 10% thing is a myth.

  11. I know my husband can see auras. I cannot. My husband was able to see my aura change when I got pregnant. He told me the day I conceived that I was pregnant. My aura had changed color. He has also seen a couple of people die, and their auras turned gray then disappeared. Every thing in the universe has an energy field. Some are lucky enough to see the fields.

  12. Yes, I believe there is some scientific evidence for telekinesis, which is now called psychokinesis or mind-machine interaction in the scientific research literature.

I have included links to that research below.

Also, the 10% of your brain thing is not a myth it is a misunderstanding of scientific findings. Humans do use 100% of the entire areas of their brain but not at any one time.

Using far less than 100% of your brain (say 25%) at one time would result in a massive seizure that would kill you.

However, more creative and more intelligent people do have more neural networks established in their brain. This means those people don't use more of their brain but that they use it in a more efficient manner.

  13. Obivously some people do.  Some people still believe the earth is flat and the holocaust never happened.  Belief and actuality don't really have that much to do with each other.

  14. I believe there's a good chance it could be real. Of course, there are many statements to counter it, but why should we limit ourselves to what we see, or in this case, what we can't see? I think if someone was born mutated enough and spent enough time learning how to use their brain to its full mutated ability, and trained often enough to focus on a special ability, they could do ANYTHING! But that's just my opinion. You can believe whatever you want. By the way, we use our entire brain already. :D

  15. I think nobody really seriously does. Also your 'we don't use are entire brain' logic would work for flying and pretty much anything and so should be doubted. Finally, I thought that we do use our entire brain, just not all at once! (Well, I do!)
