Question:

Does anybody care?

We're destroying the earth...but it's so hard to find people who actually care. Not many people are willing to make the change. My roommates are constantly shoving the cardboard and day old newspapers into the trash bin. I don't get it. It is right next to the recycling bin....

My friend laughed at me when I brought home reusable shopping bags. She said "Aren't you going overboard?"

Isn't that better than doing nothing at all?

Why does it seem that there are so few people that give a ****? I don't want to have my grandchildren asking me why our generation knew what we were doing, and continued to do nothing about it. We are messing up the planet, and leaving them with the mess.

I know people are stuck in their ways....but so was I. And it took almost zero effort to make just a little bit of a difference.

What do you think? Do you care? If you don't, has what I said made any difference at all?

  1. Your dealing with human nature.

It has been and probably always be, "The other guy will do it..."....................sad but true.

  2. I care, and it's nice to see that there are others out there who do too, I work for a company that installs fences and I personally gather all the empty concreate bags and soda bottles and what not laying around on all of the job sites and recycle them along with the left over scraps of aluminum and steel. Just because your roommates dont care doesnt mean you're the only one who does so don't give up and keep helping save our earth, it cant do it on its own!

  3. Continue to change your ways. You can not tell people to care, but you can lead by example. Change your own ways and you may find others are going to question your actions, but never judge them there. Give them informative answers. ("Aren't you going a little bit overboard?" "I haven't done much and it doesn't take that much to recycle. All I have to do is put my paper stuff in here. And I like having a cloth shopping bag. It's very European.")

The answer is, yes, I care. I recycle, I try to do all my running around at once so I'm not wasting gas. I try to remember my cloth shopping bags (that one will take some getting used to). But the key to remember is that you can't change others. You can only change your own actions.

You may find that after a while, after you keep doing it your way, that others may give it a try. But never FORCE it on them. If you force it, it will make them reluctant to do anything.

  4. it must be frustrating saving the planet by yourself, Ive made several steps in helping the planet, Ive stoped takin my truck in for oil changes, i just do it at home,  it saves space for other stuff at the land fill, that stuff evaparates faster in the summer

  5. Be thankful for what progress we have made. When I was your age, there were no recycling containers at all.

  6. l apperciated you to for trying to do something yes you are so right , Ä°f only all would think just like you , caring for posterity and world.. we give our posterity a bad world and its big shame for all human ( if they think they are )
