Question:

Does anybody commute from Cardiff to Bath?

I'm thinking of taking a job on the outskirts of Bath and I live in Central Cardiff. I wouldn't have to go into Bath city centre, I'd go along the M4 and turn off just after the city centre. AA routemap says it takes 1 hour 11 mins one way and 1 hour 8 mins back but of course there is the cost of petrol and the toll, it will cost me over £300 a month but the salary will make up for it. I just wondered about the nightmare of commuting over the bridge, is it awful, will it take more like 2 hours at rush hour? does anybody do this trip or something similar? Is it worth it?

  1. It would be in an absolute nightmare.  At some point in your journey you WILL have to go into Bath City Centre - as all the roads that come of the M4 at Bath go through the City Centre.

I live roughly half way between Bristol and Bath.  It takes me roughly 4 hours each day to get in and out of Bristol.

If I had the choice (and the Internet connection was better) I would NOT go into Bristol or Bath (or any other town) at all.
