  1. Yes, P&P along with Paypal fees are a rip. Then there's the worry of getting fake or poor quality items incorrectly described.

  2. Amazon sells things too. From what I collect, they're a bunch of independent sellers, who sell things at a set price. Why does a THS-02 prime cost 15 - 20 bucks shipping from U.S to U.S for Ebay, but the shipping from Amazon is 8 - 12 bucks?

  3. Absolutely agree that it is no longer now a forum for getting a good bargain - the postage is where they hit you and its so high, its scandalous.

You can buy a silk jacket for 1.99 - but the postage is £23.00 .

This rather defeats the whole object of the 'auction' aspect of the site and what it was set up for.

And what about the standard of stuff?

In the last 2 years it has gone down hill in my book.

  4. no, i just bought new items for way less regular price

  5. I am thinking that p&p is postage, hope I am correct.  The postage is determined by the post office and by the seller. It has nothing to do with eBay.

Some sellers do overcharge for shipping but others charge the actual cost plus a small handling charge.  The sellers can control the handling cost but not the post office fees. A good seller charges appropriately.

As buyers, we have to make sure we have all the facts, especially about shipping, which can be expensive, before we bid!  Unfortunately, with the rising cost of gasoline, I expect shipping fees will be climbing even higher in the next year.

  6. Its the amount they want for postage.

  7. Yeah P&P is totally unfair, I bought a top on there for 99p, bargain I thought till I saw that P&P was £3.50. when the top arrived it cost the sellar 78p to send it to me!!!  It was a lush top, so I'm not that annoyed!!

  8. its the post office thats expensive not ebay sellers fault. try shopping  on the high street for anything. its not cheap there. the only other alternative is car boot sales. you will definitely get good bargains there

  9. it depends on what u are buying...

  10. Yep, I got out of there a good few months ago and never looked back.

  11. The thing that always annoys me is when something costs like 99 cents but then the shipping is like ten dollars. argh!

  12. yes

  13. yes, not as many bargains now and the p and p is outrageous

  14. Some sellers do, if I have charged over the top for postage I always refund the difference. Some sellers charge ridiculous prices for postage, but having said that I have also lost out on postage by not charging enough.

What has put me off selling on ebay is the sellers fees now they are so high. I sold a bracelet a while ago which cost me £75 I sold it for £105 by the time I'd paid sellers fees and then paypal I'd made £2 it's just not worth the hassle and I think that is why people are charging over the top on postage to make up for the sellers fees.

  15. ya

  16. I know exactly what you mean. i have bought stuff on eBay saying it was five dollars, and by the end of adding all the taxes and shipping and handlings taxes, it ended up to be thirty dollars. Total rip off!
