Does anybody else do this?

You're approaching a roundabout and there's two lanes.

The left hand lane is all choked up with cars, but the right hand lane is pretty clear.

You approach the roundabout in the right hand lane even though you want to go left or straight over.

You drive onto the roundabout in the right hand lane and drive ALL the way around it and move over for your chosen exit.

You get to exit without having had to sit in the jammed up left hand lane!

Do any of you do this? I can't believe the amount of drivers who just sit in the traffic jam when they could be moving!

  1. I do it all the time, but now that you've told the whole world (you numpty), it's not going to work any more.

  2. You know what? I have NEVER thought of this before - but I am so gonna do it now!

  3. now you have told them they will all do it

  4. I do this all the time too. I've seen a queue of over 200m in one lane before and only 2 cars in the other. Of course go all the way round cut your journey time by 10 minutes easily! Its amusing too watch peoples faces too when they can see what your doing : )

  5. LOL - I was in Flint last week with the Bronco - it has a 6" fabtec lift and 38" super swampers.

Well I had to get to the college - when I took the exit - I noticed a bunch of traffic ( it was never a bad spot) well they now have one of these roundabouts.

After sitting in traffic for 10 minutes, I jumped the curb, and made my turn -

  6. I dont (cos i dont drive) - but my husband does!

I think you, him and the others that do it are geniuses!

  7. When people refuse to let me into the 'correct' lane even when I am indicating, then I do it - just to spite them.

  8. nope i dont drive. even if i did, we dont have roundabouts where i live

  9. cool i thought i was the only person doing that

  10. nope,i never do that,I just wait like everyone else.If when you do that and a police car spots you,tho it is not an offence as such, they about to stop you and start asking questions,as they guess you in a hurry and just want to delay you.

  11. yes all the time

  12. I do that all the time I know its crazy when people sit there and wait but don't spread the secret we will end up jamming both lanes !!!!

  13. Legal and safe, what a good idea. Sad you had to give the game away others will be doing it now

  14. Yep!

My old car was an unusual gold colour and I used to get lots of angry glares from the drivers I'd overtaken as they recognised my car as the one that had passed them and indicated right when I passed them, still queueing to get onto the roundabout!

Why more drivers don't do it is beyond me, and it stops congestion on the roads?!

  15. Ha ha ha, yes! I used to do this all the time on one particular roundabout in Fife, just as you approach the Kincardine Bridge. There were roadworks and the traffic could be backed up for over a mile, so I'd take the right hand lane, indicate right and swing onto the road, thus cutting my delay by a good 20 mins!

  16. people like you moving lanes in the middle of the roundabout cause crashes just wait like the rest of us have to!!!

  17. I do this quite alot, also when there all queuing for an exit of the motorway I drive up and cut in at the front, lane hoggers are the ones that bug me the most though.

  18. Yes I have done it, buit it needs to be quite a tailback in the other lane to make it worthwhile.

  19. Yep, the legal and safe way to jump qeues (rather than just cutting them up at the roundabout exit!).

    Now Shhhhhh!!!  Stop telling people!

  20. NO NO NO.I sit there waiting ;)

But I do park in mother & todler parking space's,,,I ent got any kid's..........
