  1. Humor, no more no less.  It doesn't mean everyone who wears one beats their wife.

  2. i don't, shirts can't beat people up.

  3. I get more offended that my wife always wants me to go put one on when I am wearing a button up shirt.

  4. nahhh...not really

  5. No, as I'm not a feminista, I'm comfortable with humor.

  6. Beaters. What else can you call them. They phukking beaters.

  7. totally!

  8. Well, not really, I kind of like the name too. Don't know why, guess I'm just backwards on this kind of political correctness.

  9. Yes - the same way I feel uneasy calling a feminist a "human".

  10. No, not really.  It's just a commonly used phrase.

  11. yea, its one of the stupidest names for a tanktop.... of all the things it could have been called they names it a "wife beater," implying that when u wear it ur going to beat ur wife or ur an idiot who doesnt have respect for women... plus it further strengthens the stereotype of those big guys weraing them to be abusive towards their wives and stuff....

plus, its just sounds so stupid...

  12. it's funny. The image it invokes is some fat guy with stains yelling at his wife. Sure it's not PC, but usually the really funny things aren't. That 's what make Chappelle such a hit. Bring attention to problems in our society by poking fun at it.

  13. I knew that some guys wear shirts that say wife beater on them and they arent even wife beaters. I did'nt know they called them that. That does make me feel uneasy and its messed up. The only time my boyfriend can hit me is when he is spanking me when im "bad" lol. I would like to beat whoever thought of that name it does'nt even make sense.

  14. I think the term just makes fun of the type of guy who would wear an undershirt in public. I don't see it as advocating violence. If I go out in my bra I'll call it a husband beater.

  15. Doesn't bother me at all.

  16. Only if you are drinking a 40oz at the same time.

  17. I HATE that term.

    It's an A-shirt...or a muscle shirt...

  18. Not I, I like it!!!!

  19. I guess I don't feel uncomfortable with it. It's just one of those terms that (most) everyone knows is a mockery of stereotyping. And done in a humorous way. It reminds me of the mockery of an "off-color" or frowned on situation, or behavior, that is examined in a negative way as being "g*y". i.e. "I have to drive all the way across town to get a program for my PC. That is so g*y."

  20. Hate the look and hate the name.
