I want to save money and work to pass time. I am 21 weeks pregnant and having an uneventful normal pregnancy. I know I am qualified yet interview after interview I am not called back. I am starting to feel like I am being discriminated against due to my pregnancy. What kind of place hires pregnant people?? And who doesn't and why???

  1. you know legally they can not not hire you because your pregnant but they can find a different reason , ya kno such as your not quailifed , too quailifed blah blah , but reality it is harder cause most jobs dont want to hire someone whom will be leaving for 6 weeks or more or even quit it as little as nine months, personally i had a hard time keepin a job , due to the same reasons , but try going to big companies such as wal-mart.....

  2. From an employers point of view, it's fustrating when workers you hire don't stay on for 12 months- it takes plenty of work from the Administrative side to put someone on.

They'll have to re-hire soon to replace the position, and keep a job open for when (if) you come back after the baby.

It's a lot easier to hire someone who at least has a good chance of staying on with the company

It may not seem fair to you, but it's the reality

  3. Yeah it would definitely be harder. People don't want to hire someone who will automatically have to take several weeks off in just a few months. My sister got pregant when she was 18 and she got two different fast food jobs during that time just because she didn't want to ask my parents for help, both of those jobs ended up firing her shortly after hiring for things that weren't even her fault, eventually she accepted my parents help once she realized she wasn't going to be able to keep a job until after my niece was born. She got a really great job a couple months after my niece was born, it's been 2 years since she was born and she's still working there.

  4. I already had a job when I got pregnant. I have been at the hospital for over 2 years now! You can try a temp agency b/c they are temporary and you aren't going to need it for that long!

  5. I got two jobs when I was pregnant.  One of which was a temp. position, but the other was permanent.  I just basically did my applications and interviews without saying a word about my pregnancy because technically, it doesn't matter.  They aren't allowed to fired you if you say, "oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that I'm pregnant".  The only time its going to be a problem is when you go to apply for health insurance through your job, because its going to be considered a "pre-existing condition".

So, do not mention it in your resume'.  Do not mention it in the interviews.  If they ask about it, you can be honest, but either way, they aren't allowed to discriminate, so don't even bring it up.

  6. ive had my share of those also. it just depends on the work environment. its a safety issue for the company with you being pregnant if anything happens to you or the baby while you are working they dont want to be in trouble for it so to speak. cuz when your pregnant your kinda limited to lifting heavy objects and straining yourself.
