Does anybody else hope the Us Open is a little more...well, predictable?

Although it was nice to see Safin play well, and good to see newcomers like Monfils pull through the the French and Wimby, does anybody else want some more classic matches come US? Less Roddicks, Blakes, Djokovics, going out early rounds and more classic big name clashes. It'd be nice to see the whole top ten do well this US Open in my opinion, it makes tennis so much more interesting and it is nice when I have more than one player to support! I do want Safin to do well again tho, I'm not implying that. Its just so exciting when you know its a Blake vs Roddick quater, or a Ferrer vs. Nadal quater, ya know?

Also in the womens draw, I'd like to see more Sharapova/Ivanovic/Jankovic/Williams/Kut... match ups come quaters/semis.

Anyone else agree?

As a side question, did Rafa lose any points for pulling outta Stuttgart? How many is he on now? (not that I'm desperate)

  1. it's hard to predict the US Open... i hope there will be a great clash too so it is more interesting to watch.

Rafa lose 250pts for pulling out of Stuttgart

  2. As long as matches are not decided by controversial calls, I think it's great when the unexpected happens. It's always nice to see your favorites do well, but the truly memorable events are when the unexpected happen. An unknown player beating the top seed in the finals or two 6-10 players battling it out in the final. Two rivals playing a 5 set match that lasts 4 hours - even if it's not the final. That's what classic moments are about.

Just look at the 1980 Olympic hockey tournament. The average person doesn't know the final standings, just that Team USA beat Team Russia in "The Miracle on Ice". Or Kirk Gibson's home run against the A's in the 1988 World Series. I was rooting for the A's, but I'll never forget Gibson's fist punch as he rounds the bases.

  3. I'd prefer the finals to be more unpredictable because it is a great chance to see who is in good form and who will be a rising star in the future, The Nadal Federer Wimbledon match was absolutely brilliant and I wouldn't mind seeing a similar thing at the U.S. Open, but I'd like to see Djokovic getting into a few finals as well.

  4. Nope, there will always have something new & special in every Grand Slams events. It may be dominated by Fed but age will be the factor as one grows old & the younger, stronger players will assume its place.

So, sit back & relax & enjoy the games

  5. yes i agree. it is nice i guess to see unseeded players come up in tournaments and beat top seeds, but it is not nearly as interesting as a big  match when top seeds play eachother. top seeds need to do well in big tournaments.

i don't think nadal will loose points for pulling out of that stuttgart tournament. but i'm not entirely sure.

  6. Nah, i think it's always good when its unpredictable, it just makes it more interesting  rather than knowing who's gonna be in the final.

It's awesome to see some young guns knockout the favourites.

  7. Well, I see what you're saying and I love to see top seeded players go deep in the tournament. But alot of people like to see big upsets because it makes things interesting.

P.s. I think Nadal's points will be deducted next Monday

  8. Sherapova going out so early was a huge upset at Wimbledon. She is so fun to watch. She is this pretty large women with all the right curves and grunts like a bull, yet she's still really s**y.

  9. I would like to see matches like Federer Nadal wimbledon final classic match and best match of all time
