  1. The first anwer hit the nail right on the head.  For the reast of your question:

He will eventually fight Cotto, unless Margarito wins their bout.

Margarito had too many losses to even consider a match woth Floyd, until now, if he can beat Cotto

Mosley is too old and if he fought him, what would be the point?  You morons out there would just say that Mosley is too old anyways.

Clottey should not even be in this discussion.

  2. I don't think Floyd is actually scared of fighting any of them, in the ring I don't think he feels that anyone can beat him.

I think he's hesitant about tarnishing is unbeaten record.  Boxing is essentially his life's work, his goal is to be considered the greatest ever - from that standpoint, it is an easier bet to just beat big names (who aren't the most dangerous to him) keep his undefeated mark and let history have to dispute his claim.  He knows enough about boxing history to know that Rocky Marciano's 49-0 mark takes him way farther in critics standings than naming 49 opponents he took on.  As time passes people may forget that Hernandez was over-the-hill, Coralles was drained, De la Hoya was well past his prime, Gatti was very limited, etc. but you can't forget that nobody beat him.

I've always been a fan of his, and think a guy with his type of focus and dedication got a bad rap - but its also clear that last year the general sports media gave him enough uninformed credit to alleviate him from having to ever step into the ring with very dangerous guys on your list.

  3. He's not the best. For all i know he doesn't even deserve to be called a "boxer" in the real sense of the word.

and i can't understand either why he's on top of the pound for pound ratings.

    ridiculous.

if he fights each of the fighters you mentioned and win convincingly....i wouldn't mind if he sticks to his usual and terribly boooring lean-back, duck, jab and run technique....i'd be a fan.

  4. YES. until he fights cotto i have no respect for him. It doesnt matter how good he is if he doesnt fight the best. You can say  he fought who other people say are the best but he should ALWAYS be taking those fights. He talks so much **** he should always be backin it up if he wants my respect

  5. You hit that on the money. He is scared of them and anybody with a pulse...

  6. Is he scared...probably not.

He is more afraid of image and loss of income.  He capitalizes on the general public and not boxing aficionados.

Look at his record prior to welter.  Not exactly a who's who of boxing legends.  Sure there are good fighters, but is that how low that bar is now days to be considered a legend?  The number of titles now days is no where near as relevant as it was in the past.

His career seems to be patterned after De La Hoya's.........well chosen opposition to bolster a record for the sole purposes of increasing income.  As  a note, this is not limited to PBF.  Cotto plays the same game.  Most of the young talent in boxing is nursed along now-a-days.  At least DLH fights somebody in their prime every once in a while......even if it means a loss.

You can argue that as DLH rose in weight so did the talent in search of the big $$ fight with DLH.  Behind that wave is where PBF makes his living.

There are so many fighters that can be rattled off that PBF could have fought from 2000-2003...Ward, Gatti (at 135-140 lbs) and other guys that at least you would recognize.

The future of boxing appears to be engineered careers based on income potential.  Proven talent runs a distant second.

PBF will let the guys at 147 lbs battle it out and he will try to swoop in after the dust has settled to fight the winner for a big $$ fight.  If he wins, I'll commend him.  I would think more of him if he fought these guys now and not DLH.

  7. FLOYD MAYWEATHER SUCKS!

    Cotto > Mayweather!

  8. The Welters don't need goofy azz Mayweather. There are plenty of top guys who are actually willing to fight each other. Mayweather is a joke.

  9. First of all Floyd has destroyed the best fighters of his era he has nothing else to prove,LOL he isn't afraid of any of those fighters you just mentioned also everyone said he was afraid of Hatton before they fought but look at what happened to Hatton he got crushed by Floyd end of story.

  10. i love boxing and i am a huge fan of all of the fighters you've named. i don't think floyd is scared of any of them. here's the run down: floyd looks at boxing like whats in it for me? if he fights CLOTTEY or MARGARITO: he has nothing to gain and everything to lose in the eyes of the public, only hard core boxing fans know these guys and know that they are great fighters. if he wins, they'll say he beat nobody's and if he loses they'll say he wasn't that great cuz he lost to a guy i never even heard of. You can argue margarito since his last two fights. there is footage of margarito challenging floyd face to face while floyd was signing autographs for fans, margarito shakes floyd's hand and says"i want to fight you" floyd says" you have to get your name up first, no one knows you, get your name up and lets make the fight juicy."

SHANE MOSLEY: no one seems to remember when floyd was calling this guy out and he was ducking floyd. after a mosley win merchant asks him does he want to fight floyd and his reply was that he thought it would be best if floyd fought Oscar first...? wtf. Floyd's reply " why should i beat your boss then beat you??" he missed his opportunity and floyd will NEVER fight him for that.

COTTO: bad timing period. Floyd as at a point in his carrer where he wants to retire. he didn't even want to fight de la hoya again, he turned the fight down 4 times but they offered more money. Floyd is too involved in prosperous ventures outside of the ring. he has endorsements, pretty boy promotions, and philthy rich records. he wants to try new things. if he fights cotto they'll just be another cotto for him to fight in six months and he knows it.  If cotto ever calls him out or anything like that, the fight will happen.
