i see that he threw 707 punches but her land like 400 something that mostly means that the 700 punches mostyly were slaps or he would b dead tired which he wasnt.

  1. i thought hopkins won but i am going to watch again. he landed cleaner more effective punches. calzaghe did nothing effective. he slaps, i dont agree with compubox i dont see all those punches landing. calzaghe throws nothing punches

  2. Perhaps he should have won, but instead, he clearly lost. I had him winning the first round only. Two other rounds close, and Calzaghe winning all the others.

  3. Not me

  4. No

  5. Though, I was pulling for Hopkins, I thought Calzaghe rightfully won the match. I just thought Calzaghe outworked and showed he really wanted the fight over Hopkins. I also thought Hopkins robbed himself of opportunities to score more shots, which possibly could have swayed the judges in his favor. I saw too many moments when Hopkins would go into his clinching after throwing two-three shots, as Calzaghe was open to take a few shots. This was something that ESPN's Teddy Atlas also noticed. Anyway, with the expection of the first round, I found it difficult to give Hopkins four rounds.

  6. I really thought the fight was close and that Bernard should have got the win. Joe Clazaghe landed more punches but it takes more than pitty pat to win a fight. Hopkins knocked him down and busted up his face. When you seen the hard shots that counted and had sweet coming off them Hopkins was throwing them. He controlled the Pace of the fight too clazaghe was fighting Hopkins fight not his own. It was rounds that Ledermen had for Clazaghe that Bernard Clearly won. Joe did as little as possible to win that fight and you cant beat a respectable champion doing the bare minimum. Calzaghes own corner thought he was losing that's why his dad was yelling "you need a knockout" and then when they announced the results look at how Calzaghe's face changed like he thought he had lost. I really think that Bernard won I mean you land more punches on Hopkins that a Prime Roy Jones but its a split decision somethings wrong there. Your obviously not hitting him worth a d**n. Pitty Patt wins fights in the Olympics not a  championship bout. Think if it was 1980 Hopkins would have got the decision Joe didn't Hurt the champion.

    Bernard Won

    He landed the Harder blows

    Controlled the Pace

    Knocked Joe Down

    Controlled the inside

And at 43 didnt get dominated by the number 3 guy pound for pound.

All Joe did was land more punches thats it rounds are Judged on more than who outlands.

  7. I did not see the fight and have heard several different opinions.  I know Hopkins done too much holding according to many and that Calzaghe landed the higher volume of punches, but Hopkins landed the cleaner and harder punches based soley on what I've heard.

  8. He was the more effective boxer in the fight, he scored a knock down and caught calzaghe with some nice shots, calzaghe outworked him though and slapped his way to a decision, he landed more shots and threw more punches and that helped him in the score cards, perhaps it should have been a draw but i think that calzaghe deserved the win, the gap in work rate and punch thrown/landed was too much to consider the fight a draw.

  9. No and anyone who saw Hopkins win that fight is retarded...including that ridiculous judge! The fight was close because of the knockdown...but it was clearly won by Calzage by at least 2 rounds.

  10. h**l no

  11. Hopkins had to many gaps of inactivity in the later rounds, held constantly, and faked to many low blows to impress the judges . The fight was close but I feel that joe out worked hopkins and was more aggressive even though hopkins landed clearer and more effective shots.

  12. No....even Bernard's Momma admits that Joe won.

  13. Unfortunately, no Joe did clearly win.

I say "unfortunately" because I have never really liked the "slappy" style of punching. Mass punching to just build points. Most of what Calzaghe threw, were winging punches that landed on Bernards arms. Joe Calzaghe looked like he just walked out of golden gloves and had nothing but "points massing" on his mind.

But the truth be known, Bernard did nothing to stop Joe from doing that. He had a good start, knocking Calzaghe down. But after that I really didnt see Bernard do anything of consequence to slow Joe down..which is exactly what you are supposed to do as a boxer...if you fight a slappy puncher, show that the punches are just slaps by knocking him down.

No, this isnt dissent from an American. I also would say Hagler won against Leonard. I HATE Shoe Shine artists.

  14. I heard it was a fairly slow fight according to a few friends of mine who did watch it. Either that, or he was biased with that fight versus the UFC event that was also happening that Saturday. Either way, I read up on the round-by-round analysis and it looks like B.Hop should have one the fight but his inconsistency after knocking Calzaghe down lead to his defeat. If anything it should've been a draw.
