  1. Here is one for each - and for a special treat, make both and mix equal parts together!

    Southern Sweet Tea

    3 cups water

    8-10 regular-size tea bags

    1 cup sugar

    3 cups cold water

    Ice cubes

Add sugar to 3 cups of water and bring to a boil; remove from heat.  Add tea bags, let steep 20-30 minutes and then remove tea bags.

In a large gallon pitcher, pour in the tea syrup and add cold water and stir until well mixed. Serve in tall glasses over ice - feel free to add a sprig of mint or a slice of lemon.

    Yields 1 gallon.

    Real lemonade

    8 cups cold water

2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice

    (10 to 12 large lemons)

    2 cups crushed ice

    1 to 1 1/2 cups superfine sugar

In two batches, pulse water, lemon juice and ice in a blender, adding sugar to taste. Transfer to a large pitcher and serve immediately, or chill, covered, until ready to serve. Pour into tall glasses over ice.

  2. I'm no good with measurements, so forgive me if I confuse you.

    Iced Tea:

    5 cups water (room temp)

1/4 cup lemon and orange juice, equally divided

6 tea bags of your choice.  I'd suggest black tea

    1 tbsp vanilla extract

as much sugar as it takes

Steep the tea in the water for an hour or until the water turns light or dark brown, depending on how strong you like your tea.  Add in the juice and vanilla extract.  Now just mix in sugar and taste occasionally until it suits you.

Mix with ice in a pitcher and your done!

Lemonade is basically the same, just alot of water, lemon juice, and sugar.  The only secret ingredient is vanilla extract.

  3. Bring fresh cold tap water to a full, rolling boil.  Use one teaspoonful of tea or one tea bag per 5-ounce. cup of water.  Poor the boiling water over the tea.  Brew 3-5 minutes.  If you prefer your tea less strong, add more water after the brewing period.  For the Best Iced Tea: Follow the directions for making hot tea, but use 50% more tea to allow for melting ice. For example, use 4 tea bags to make 4 cups of hot tea, but 6 tea bags to make 4 glasses of iced tea.  For a two-quart pitcher, add 15 tea bags or 1/5 cup loose tea to 1 quart of freshly drawn cold water brought to a full boil.  Stir and let stand 5 minutes.  Stir again and remove the tea bags or strain into a pitcher containing 1 quart of freshly drawn cold water. 4. I like real brewed tea, and I put fresh spearmint leaves in the container. We have a lot of mint growing wild here in Baldwinsville, NY. Some mint leaves look good for a garnish, too.
