Here are just 3 movies where Brown is mentioned: As Good As It Gets, Iron Man, Varsity Blues.

  1. I guess it's because Brown has a relationship with an art school called the Rhode Island School of Design (or RISD), and a lot of artists and eventually film makers come from that school.

The creator of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane went to RISD, and Brown is mentioned a lot in there.

  2. brown is an ivy league school. so like harvard, yale, dartmouth, princeton, there are a lot of people which connections there and of course, there is a certain elitism. brown also does not have the same love or hate reaction as say maybe harvard or yale which have lots of preconceived images. also, brown is fairly laid back and the campus is a nice mix of urban and grassy greens with old brick buildings.  i suspect there is some connection with risd, but the whole of providence is rather artistic. i mean the city istelf has been actually like a character in some movies and tv series.

or maybe because it's just a cool place
