Does anybody have any good ideas to keep children busy?

I am babysitting 3 children this summer. The girls are 8 and 10. And their son is 13. They are a very active and busy family. They each have chores to do before we can have fun. The parents like them to stay busy outside. They do not want them at all to watch any T.V. I am trying to find some new ideas of things for them to do that they may not have done before.

  1. Oh goodness. Set up a tent in the yard. Go hiking. Swimming. Park. Play tag (freeze tag, tv tag, etc). Picnic. Blow bubbles. Catch bugs. Learn about leaves and trees. Borrow a dog from a friend. Go to the firestation for a free tour. Library. Book store. Pet store. Lemonade stand. Museums.

You'll find about 500 more ideas at the link below. ;)

  2. kids like to paint things....find old wooder furniture or other stuff and let them be creative. also, fill up some pails with water and give them various containers to play with the water. go for hikes and nature walks and have them look for different things that begin with a certain letter, of certain color, or category (depending on age)

let them decide an activity and tell them it has to be something totally new. they can invent a game or new song...let them lead the way and you will get your ideas from them!

    have a great summer!
