  1. I've been a lock for many many years, but Ive never had any coach that knew exactly how to teach me... it comes from experience and being able to lock with other well experienced locks... One important part of locking is flexibility- you really need to be stretching daily for long periods.  it really does help- you need long strong leg and back muscles.  and to be able to keep your *** down in a scrum.

When binding to the prop, ive found two different methods to be more effective than just reaching up and binding at the waistband of the prop's shorts: 1- bind around the leg, reaching all the way around and grabbing the pocket.  this is a very secure hold - some props dont like it tho. 2- bind at the waistband of the shorts, BUT reach up with your palm away from the prop and flex your fingers back towards your prop to grab the waistband, rolling it forward into your fist- this way your fist is driving forward and down, directing the prop's hips and helping to drive them and keep them low.

leg placement is key -you must provide a stable base for the props and hooker to sit on.  your legs should act like springs- coiled up and then exploding out once the ball is put in.  you shouldnt be driving until the ball enters the tunnel in a scrum. with your inside knee down, your outer foot should be behind it with your thigh perepndicular to the ground.

use your flankers- tell them to tighten or loosen up to control the scrums and how tight/ compact it is- thats their job- to squeeze everyone together.  your job is to push everyone forward.

Your head should be smushed into the front lineand the asses of the props and hookers should rest on your shoulders.  your head should be straight -not ****** to the side- and you need to look up at the opposing locks to keep a safe posture of your neck and back- it also helps to keep your *** down!!!  most of all- keep your *** below your shoulders and DRIVE!!!!  take short little steps and stay stable.

Best of luck as an *** sniffer!

(I can't believe they bleeped out the word A_S_S!!!  anytime you see stars... you know what i mean!  GEEZ!!!)
