  1. "Democratic socialist government" is a contradiction in terms. It can't happen.

  2. I don't, it doesn't work and don't tell me it does.

  3. It is my personal belief that we can have both.  Our country, and indeed our world, is fully entrenched in capitalism.  Every country also has some varying level of social welfare system to placate the masses and offset the "victims" of capitalism.  Each country incorporates this in varying ways.  Every year there is a "happiness" ranking done, and the happiest places on earth tend to have more social welfare programs than the least happy places on earth, in addition to tending to be countries that are relatively wealthy - as opposed to impoverished (the US is the wealthiest it is the 16th happiest country), not involved in a war, many personal rights and freedoms, and tend towards democracy.  Denmark, Sweden, and Canada were all towards the top of last years ranking and all three have universal health care and other successful social welfare plans such as government funded retirement.

  4. Well in the United States democratic socialism co-exist with our democratic capitalism. Our police, firefighters, public school systems, and parks are prime examples of socialistic programs, co-existing in a democratic capitalist frame.

  5. Some idiots do.
