Does anybody in the U.S. know who Manny Pacquiao is and if so, what is your impression of him?

I have only heard of him in the Philippines and he seems to be a fairly good little boxer.

I just want to know if he is known worldwide too, or if it is just a local thing.

Seems to be a good, exciting fighter. As far as boxing goes he's pretty popular. I wouldn't expect the average American to pick him out of a lineup, but then again I wouldn't expect them to get anyone other than De La Hoya.

Judges seem to like him alot. They gave him a nice belated Christmas present in his last fight. :)

yea. i would say he's well known universally throughout the boxing community. he's definately made an impact as a filipino warrior back in his homeland and his 'never quit' attitude is what has made him a world class athlete of today.

Manny Pacman Pacquiao is really well known in North America. Voted boxer of the year in 2006. Can't wait for the Diaz fight on June 28th!

He's a decent fighter who came in toward the end of the career of three great fighters in his weight class, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez.  Even though Manny is in his abolute prime, he lost a battle with EM and has two very controversial victories over JMM.

There is little doubt that in their respective primes, any one of these three could have taken Pacman out.

Pac is mainly known on the web for having a very loud and abusive fan base made up of phillipinos who are Pac fanatics, but not fans of boxing and not particularly knowledgeable about the sport in general.

He is probably the best boxer in the world today!He has beaten the best in his division. He beat Barrera in his prime. He beat Morales twice, and Marquez, convincingly already!His never say die attitude is one that American fans look forward to whenever he fights.Alll his fights in USA are sold out in Las Vegas! also on pay per view.He is a living legend in boxing, quite well known in the US.
