  1. This is something I've been talking with a lot of people about, actually.

Since he can't be #18 anymore (it's taken by Maltby, obviously), it's been suggested that perhaps he'll take #81. Some other numbers I've seen thrown around are #8, #78 and since almost everyone is anticipating Drake's retirement, I've also heard #17 mentioned a few times.

All of this is speculation, of course, but we shall see...

  2. Langknow-- How many years does Maltby have with the Wings? (that would be 12 seasons) How many Cups?(that would be 4 Cups) I rest my case! Hossa would never even approach Maltby about it.... Like it or not, respected he will be, but he is the new guy on the block coming to a team that just won the Stanley Cup!

  3. He wouldn't have picked yet, he'll probably pick one during training camp, but it won't necessarily be the same one he uses during the season.  He wore 18 with the Pens, Thrashers, and Senators, so he will probably get that if it is available.

  4. He Will Most Likely Have To Choose His Own Number Cause 18 is already Taken by Kirk Maltby and it has been Malts Number since he started playing for the Wings.

Just like Brett Hull.. His #16 he wasn't allowed to have the Number cause it was semi-retired by Vladdy.

  5. He's keeping #18 ITs maltby and he's brutal you cant have Hossa come into your team and expect him not to keep his #18 cause maltby has it thats the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

  6. nopee, he probably hasn't decided yet.

  7. He'll go with 81 because he worship's the DEVIL......er.....I mean Miro Satan......kidding.

But I'm actually willing to bet he'll go with 81. His brother is number 81 and 18 backwards is a 81.

  8. he is #not fair the wings have him

  9. LangKnow- he wont be keeping 18, Maltby is 18 and has no reason to give it up for Hossa.

    Look for #81

  10. Marian Hossa's number is officially 81.

"The Red Wings held a conference call to announce Marian Hossa's signing, so the Wings don't feel that it's necessary to ask him to take a 13-hour flight to Detroit to simply put on the #81 he'll be wearing, and as the conference call got the formalities out of the way, he'll arrive at Joe Louis Arena in late September with his teammates to board the buses for Traverse City.

    And yes, he's wearing #81."

  11. I didn't understand what LangKnowsALL was saying at first because of his broken English, but if he was saying that Maltby would be forced to give up his number 18 jersey of 12 seasons, then he shouldn't be allowed to interact with human beings online.  Yahoo "Answers" isn't somewhere you belong Lang.  You don't know all, you're a complete dumbsh*t if you think anybody in Detroit gives enough of a f*ck about Marian Hossa (who we just slapped around for 6 games about 2 months ago, remember?) to give him one of our favorite grinder's jerseys.  I don't care how much Malts produces.  He's a role player and 10 times more of a Red Wing than Hossa will ever be.

  12. He didnt get one yet ive been searching. I thinks its because the off-season isnt over
