Question:

Does anybody know about doomsday in 2012?

The thing is that there is a lot of theory behind all of this. The sun is going to align with the center of the earth and the center of the milky way. It also happens that it's when the Mayan calender ends. Something catastrophic is supposed to happen and it's supposed to be a new era for mankind. I hope that all these theories are wrong!

  1. Don't worry, the world won't end in 2012. I can't promise people don't do something utterly stupid that results in a mass extinction, but the world will go on, life will go on and the planet will be here looooonnnng after 2012.  It's true the mayan calander ends 2012, but all this junk about the sun aligning with the center of the earth is total jibberish.  There's been dozens of doomsday prophecies over the past several hundred years... and we're still here.  If we humans do nuke ourselfs or unleash a biological end-all, it won't have anything to do with the mayans or the earths allignment with the sun.

  2. It is the end of the Myan calendar. Thousands of years ago the myans wrote a calendar and according to them, it is the last day. (the end of the world) it is not accurate as nothing would lead scientist to believe that the world will soon end. The catastrophic event was supposed to be an astroid or a comet hitting earth. This is NOT going to happen though! :D

  3. there is no theory at all. it's just garbage. a cruel and cynical hoax, and you should know better.

  4. What the Mayans really meant was that this was the end of the age, and a new age will rise from it. There calendar was set for 5 ages. When the five ages are complete then the calendar resets. There is nothing to suggest that they foresaw the end of the world.

  5. According to the 2012ers it will be the end of the world because

    1. Nostradamus said so

    2. The Mayan calender ends

    3. an Ouija Board said so

    4. there will be a pole shift

    5. there will be a planetary alignment

    6. there will be a galactic alignment

    7. an asteroid will hit earth

    8. Planet X/ Nibiru will appear

    9. some crystal skull nonsense

    10. we are heading into a photon belt (whatever that’s supposed to be

    11. Indian Astronomer said so

and probably some other equally silly reasons.

I would take those doomsayers more serious if they

    - had a better track record (just how many times has the world ended already?)

    - could make up ONE story about it

  6. I do, in fact, I made a web page about it

    http://www.theendoftheworld.tk

Check it out, you may learn something new ;)

I answered all the most popular theories using results of my own research.

Quick answer: The world will NOT end in 2012.

  7. I have only heard that the Mayan calendar ends and some people think this means the end of the world. I really don't think this is the case.

  8. The "theory" you refer to is pure scientific hogwash - Earth's orbit around the sun isn't angled so that the 3 will align.  Even if they did, the centre of the galaxy is 25,000 light years away - it has no effect on the Earth.

The Mayan calendar ends just like ours does every year - do we panic on December 31 ("oh my god, the calendar is ending so it must be the end of the Earth").  No,  we wake up on Jan 1 and start a new calendar.

You need to do some research for yourself, so you can see what junk is being foisted on an uneducated and gullible public.

  9. Please don't worry hon.  Nothing untoward is going to happen.  The whole thing has been dreamed up to sell books and TV shows.  Do you remember how the world was going to end in 2000? Did it end? No, of course not.  Same now!

  10. People stocked up for the year 2000, thinking that the world would implode or something, and that all computers would reset and blow us up. Don't believe everything you read, especially not on the internet... doomsday prophets are always looking for a new date of ultimate destruction.

  11. "The sun is going to align with the center of the earth and the center of the milky way."

It's true, that is going to happen in 2012. Also every other year. You see, the Earth goes around the Sun every year (which is why it's a year), and when the Earth is at the point in its orbit opposite the center of the galaxy, the center of the galaxy, the Sun, and the Earth are all in a line.*

So, that happens every year. Why would you expect anything unusual to occur?

    * Actually, I'm not sure if the plane of the Earth's orbit is flat or at an angle with the plane of the Sun's orbit around the center of the galaxy. If they're at an angle, then the Earth would never line up with the Sun and the center of the galaxy, in 2012 or any other year. So it either happens once a year, or it can never happen.

  12. actually scientific theory predicts that Yellowstone has a super volcano underneath and predicted calculation pinpoint that it will happen around 2012 by estimating pressure and heat.

  13. There is NO theory behind this. Read my article in the source below for a detailed analysis of the so-called "alignment"; it simply can't happen. So what if the Mayan calendar ends on that date. My calendar ends on December 31 2008; does that mean that the world will end then? How can a _calendar_ cause the end of the world? Think about it!

Scientists don't expect anything out of the ordinary to happen in the year 2012, or specifically on the date December 21, other than the solstice, which happens every year.

None of the "predicted" happenings for 2012 hold up under close scrutiny. "Planet X" and "Nibiru" simply don't exist. The Mayan calendar ends a cycle, but there were no predictions of the end of the world. The Sun doesn't line up with the galactic centre; it's 6 degrees off. No asteroids or comets are actually predicted to hit Earth.

All of this stuff was put together by crackpots in order to promote their books and TV shows, and shamelessly promoted by the History Channel. Don't take any of it seriously!
