Does anybody know about the herbal plant "Cypress"?

please help! I need its scientific name and functions.

There are several plants called "Cypress" in different places round the world and many of them are totally unrelated.  Some are trees and not herbs.  I expect that the original cypress comes from Cyprus so try combining the two words in a search engine.  

If you are looking for herbalist information, consult 'Mrs. M Grieve's Modern Herbal' which was published in the 1930s and reissued a few times since.  It is available on the internet and is generally regarded as authoritative.  Search the title.
