I want to buy a new diesel pusher motorhome but i'm confused about the new motors and the new fuel Neither of them have been out to long to truly be tested. What will happen if I buy a motor earlier than a 2008 will it run on the new low sulfur fuel? I have freinds that have diesel trucks and have been burning the new fuel and had to replace injecters and pump.

  1. you can run LS diesel in any diesel.

your friend is losing injectors and pumps because he's using LS diesel.

the sulpher acts as a lubricant. since it's gone, older diesels have had an increase in pump and injector failure.

use some marvel mystery oil or biodiesel to compensate.

watch out for biodiesel.  it also acts like a solvent.  it will clean your fuel system. after while it's ok at B10 (for older diesels). late 90's and  newer can run more (up to B100). it depends on the seals.

the methonal attacks the seals. you must have viton seals.

also depends on how brave you are. gm recommends no more than B20 (if i remember right).

    i've ran B100 w/o problems in my 05 dmax w/o issue.

just keep fuel filters on hand and BD works o.k.

after your system is clean, you'll have no issues with BD, other than price at the pump.

i haven't confirmed it, but i have read that you gain MPG while towing on BD, but lose MPG around town unloaded.

  2. what i hear from Car and Driver articles is...u can use new fuel in old cars/trucks but old hi sulfur fuel will wreck pollution controls on new ones...[cost of 3000 dollars] !!!
