Does anybody know any info about mangroves?

Question

Like what are they, what adaptions they have made to survive in their habitat,any interesting facts or info about them.

Off course I do......I live in Bangladesh........The coastal area of it is full of mangroves........It's name is Sundarbans.....Go to http://en.wikipedia.org and search mangroves or sundarbans........It helps the coastal area from tidal bores..and cyclones like CYCLONE SIDR!!!!!!!!!!

Mangroves give a lot of protection from storms along  coastal lowlands.

Mangrove appear to be able to live with salt water, which allows them to grow to enormous sizes in hot climate. Many insects avoid them, perhaps because of salt.

Mangrove swamps tend to fill in with soil where they are growing in a river estuary, and after a time they will be found living entirely in a fresh water environment. That is  one explanation. The other is that the mangrove just drift out and put down roots on top of the delta, and collection of silt then creates swampy land inland of where the mangrove are growing.

But when the delta lands are covered with salt water, the mangrove ignore it.
