  1. "Civil War" Guns N Roses

  2. The Star Spangled Banner is a first-person account of the British shelling of Fort McHenry.  Francis Scott Key, the author of the original poem, was on board to secure the release of an American prisoner.  He succeeded but was detailed onboard a British ship while they shelled his friends and his homeland.  Impressed by the fire power of the Royal British fleet he feared the worst and was helpless to aid his countrymen.  It was a long night and at dawn he saw a tattered flag flying he knew they had somehow held the fort.  For him that flag was the symbol of a dream in which free men fought and died to be free.

This isn't just history, it's truth.  The world doesn't give freedom from tyranny easily and, once that freedom is lost, it isn't easily redeemed.  There are four verses.  If you read them, you'll see what I mean.  The lyrics says volumes about the reality of the American Revolution.
