  1. Its a rare disorder involving a fluid-filled cysts on the arachnoid membrane which is one of the thin layers of tissue that form a membrane which covers the spinal cord and brain. The type and severity of symptoms is determined by the size and location of the cyst.

    God Bless

  2. Arachnoid cysts in the head are actually quite common and often are of no clinical significance (simply pockets of spinal fluid).  In your case, it sounds like this fluid-filled spaced is causing you symptoms or is perhaps interfering with normal intracranial physiology.  If your physician (I'm assuming a Neurologist or Neurosurgeon) has indicated that surgery is indicated, then you should go for it, as this can be quite serious in your particular case.

N.B.  I don't know where your cyst is located or the particular symptoms/indications which led to CT/MR to be performed in diagnosing this entity.  (I'm assuming it's intracranial).  Nonetheless, when the physician deems that surgery is indicated, you are well-advised to proceed with such.

    I wish you the best.
