I am trying to get a one way "open" ticket from israel to the U.S. I was told that there is an option called an "open" ticket, where a ticket can be purchased to be used during a defined period of time, rather than a defined day. (For example, buy a ticket to be used from February to April or for the full month of February.) I have called several airlines and they say they do not offer this. Does anyone know of any way I can buy a ticket for an unspecified period of time?

  1. i have purchased 100`s of airline tickets, but i have never heard of this type of ticket, the only open tickets i know of are return tickets. if you need an open one way ticket, why not just buy a one way ticket when you need it, advance purchase tickets are usually discounted so the airline can scedule available seats, thats why they are not transferable

  2. You will need to buy a return ticket that is flexible - one where the rules allow you to change the date at little or no cost. Most airlines now don't charge much if it is an e ticket which most are. The cheaper the ticket in the first place the more likely that you will have to pay the airline a fee to change the date.

  3. yes, there is this type of ticket where your return will be left open ended. but usually, this ticket is expensive since, there's only a particular class of fare that is allowed to have this kind of option. its usually the full refundable type of tickets.

    tip,

just purchase a one way ticket online either thru an e-travel agency or on the site of the airline.

same goes for your return. its hassle free that way.
