Does anybody have any first hand experience with the IUD? People have told me some bad things. I have been told that it can scratch the uterin walls and prevent feature pregnancys. I am just looking for some facts or personal experiences good or bad. The IUD that I can get is the pediguard (the copper one that lasts for 10 years).

  1. I have the copper 10 yr iud and it works well. My used it for 10 yrs and never got pregnant. I did notice that my periods were longer though and I get more cramps than I used to. But I still recommend it. My dr said its one of the best, and they have been using them for more than 20 yrs.

  2. I have never had one but I have heard so many bad things about them! It makes me scared to ever want to try them!

  3. Be cautious using this. I've heard that the way an IUD works is that as long as there is an object in the uterus a fertilized egg can't implant. Did you catch that? A FERTILIZED egg? Meaning you could get pregnant, but would not implant the baby? I know the modern IUD's contain hormone that are supposed to suppress ovulation, but....  I am pro-life and just passing the word along so you know and research further. I also heard that women long ago used to insert chicken bones into their uterus as a form of birth control. The same theory, as long as something is in the uterus, a baby can't implant. You could terminate a lot of pregnancies if this is the way it really works.

  4. I have Paragard, and I really like it. I haven't had any side effects besides the occational cramps. The insertion hurt a lot because I don't have kids, but it got better. I love the convenience, and I love the fact that I don't have to worry about birth control for years.

However, I know some women who had it and who hated it, so I guess it's totally different for everybody.

  5. my wife had an iud put in after our first child was born. she had it taken out recently and we just found out she is pregnant.

  6. Well I tried the Paraguard a few years ago and I hated it. I just got the Mirena which is the 5 year and it seems to be better so far.
