I am 2/3 irish and that was my mother's maiden name.

You are making a very common but basic error... you are assuming that all persons named O'hara, are going to be related.  Your mother's family consists of HER PARENTS, grandparents, etc, who can be identified as actual relatives.

You *might* find generic information regarding the name.. but without actual research, it is just generic, and very possibly, has nothing to do with mom.

You are equally descended from both mother and father; then from each of 4 grandparents.  I don't understand how you can be "2/3" anything, unless you had 3 parents.
