  1. Well, the liability rate is based on the number of children, and the workers comp, on the payroll for the childcare workers.

So, how many children, how many hours a week, and what's the payroll amount for the childcare workers?

  2. It will increase significantly because of the much higher risk, but there are no 'standard' rates for this kind of commercial insurance.

All commerical policies are individually underwritten so there are no cookie cutter policies with set rates that you can glean information from.

You are going to have to call the church's agent and see if the current insurer will also carry this new liability coverage for the daycare and tell them some details.

Like how many children do you expect to care for, how much staff are you going to have, what kind of training will there be, what kind of facilities will there be and a host of other variables that will get factored into the final premium.

One hint, there is a company in Wisconsin that specializes in church liablity insurance.  If you aren't already using it, you should look into it.  It's called Church Mutual insurance located near Wausau, Wisconsin.  Since they specialize in insurance coverages for church's you should look into that because they better know the risk and can probably get you  a better quote.
